Power sets meet record at the 1969 Indoor Eastern State Championships
The legendary quartet of Andy Walsh, Tony Colon, Peter Lovett and John Lovett with coach Br. John Bielen after winning the 1969 Two-Mile Relay Championship of America. Power Memorial's winning time of 7:40.7 shattered the Penn Relays record for the event by nearly four seconds.
John Lovett anchors the Power Memorial Two-Mile Relay Championship team at the 1969 Penn Relays. When run, John Lovett's 880 split of 1:52.1 was bettered only Marty Liquori in the history of the Penn Relays. For this effort and his time of 3:10.4, on the 3/4 mile leg of the Distance Medley Relay (helping Power to a 3rd Place finish), John was named Outstanding Schoolboy Athlete of the 1969 Penn Relays.
